A LITTLE ABOUT PROTON, NEUTRON, AND ELECTRON

 Atom

Fig.1. Structure of  Atom

Talk about particle, may be anyone among us, think that the atom is the smallest particle in universe. Is it right?? Actually, Atom consists of 3 parts yet, what are those? They are proton, neutron, and electron. And need for we know together, that except electron, they aren’t fundamental particle, but composite particle, or the other word consists of parts else yet. So, if you want to know more about it, so read more this article. (Remember, this article: it’s very little explanation  only).

 PROTON

structure of proton

Proton is subatomic particle with positive charge equal to 1.6 × 10-19 C & mass 983 MeV/c² (1.6726231 × 10-27 kg). Proton consists of 3 quarks. Before, let’s we know a little about quark first. Quark is one of the fundamental particles in universe. The quarks consists of quark up & quark down, quark up have positive charge equal to 2/3 of e, whereas quark down have negative charge equal to 1/3 of e. Until this time, quarks are 6 kinds that are Quark up, charm & top (positive charge) and Quark down, strange, & bottom (negative charge).

We back to proton. Proton rated as one of a composite particle that consists of 3 quarks, 2 quarks up & 1 quark down as shown in figure 2. Proton have half integer spin and can interact by two forces are electroweak force & strong nuclear force. The last one, the proton’s couple is anti-proton.

 NEUTRON

 structure of neutron

Neutron is subatomic particle mass 940 MeV/c² (1.6749 × 10-27 kg) & nothing charge. Same with proton, neutron also rated as one of composite particle, has 3 quarks, and including in half integer spin. Look at the figure 3. The figure show us that the neutron structured of 2 quarks down & 1 quark up. Neutron & proton are interacting by strong nuclear force in nucleon. Besides, Neutron can also interact by two forces are electroweak force & strong nuclear force (same with proton). And the neutron’s couple is anti-neutron.

ELECTRON

 electron

Electron is subatomic particle with negative charge equal to 1.6 × 10-19 C & mass 0.51 MeV/c2 (9.10 × 10-31 kg). Different with proton & neutron, electron rated as fundamental particle, because the electron isn’t able to cut up into more small parts like as proton & neutron. Electron can interact by electroweak force only. And the electron’s couple is positron, a particle identical with electron, but with positive charge.
